Our language programs - Japan Album, China Album, Album
Italiano and Album Indonesia - have been developed in
conjunction with the New South Wales Department of Education
and Training, the consular sections at appropriate embassies
in Australia and community associations. These programs
are all aimed at beginner to intermediate level language
proficiency and are used in state high schools throughout
New South Wales as well as schools and colleges elsewhere
in Australia and New Zealand. Recently we have begun
to distribute these programs internationally as well.
The Japanese language program was developed with the
assistance of the Japan Foundation. The Italian language
program was developed with the assistance of the Italian
Government (through the local Italian community association
- Co.As.It.), and the Mandarin program with the assistance
and support of the Education Office, Consulate-General
of the People's Republic of China in Sydney. Our Indonesian
language program was officially launched earlier this
year by the NSW Department of Education and Training
and the Consul-General of the Republic of Indonesia
in Sydney, Bapak Gunawan.
The Language Albums are set in Japan, China, Italy and
Indonesia and present the experiences of two Australian
visitors to each country and the people they meet there.
Learning is organised into six practical themes to help
students speak and understand the language in a range
of everyday situations. Native speakers of the language
are featured in common scenarios such as meeting people,
family and home, leisure activities and travel.
| Each theme contains four types
of learning resources: |
|
| |
|
Video scenarios
with dialogue scripts and interactive roleplays |
| |
|
Learning games
targeting key vocabulary and language structures |
| |
|
Interactive
photographs revealing life and culture, including
listening quizzes, and |
| |
|
Interactive
word lists to help students consolidate their
knowledge of the selected vocabulary. |
|
Students and teachers can monitor learning progress
through the programs' in-built record-keeping facility.
The Language Albums are suitable for both beginner learners
of the languages and speakers who want to brush up.
The Language Albums have been developed for multimedia-ready
PC and Macintosh computers.
